Before Guido joined the Sumthing team, his career took him on quite an adventure. He kicked things off at a tech company, where he played a role in the operations department, overseeing the functionality of license plate scanning vehicles responsible for monitoring parking ticket payments.

Then, he made a switch to becoming the Operational Director at SafeBacktoWork. In this role, he had the opportunity to lead a team that did on-location COVID testing. They successfully executed remarkable projects, including providing testing services for big events like Eurovision and the NATO summit.

Guido's Sumthing adventure began shortly after leaving his previous job. Over lunch Mike, who he know as his enthusiastic goalkeeper on Sundays, pitched this amazing idea about tracking donations to ensure they're making a real impact in the world. Guido was immediately hooked by the concept and enthusiastically joined the Sumthing mission.

Within the Sumthing team, he does a bit of everything. Primarily overseeing operations, managing finances, and contributing to the technological aspects of our business. What he finds most rewarding about his role is witnessing the concrete and positive effects that supporters create and actively engage with. The idea of building a digital company from the ground up, one capable of making a substantial difference in the world, serves as a constant motivator in Guido's daily work.

A typical day for Guido involves hopping on calls with project partners to verify the meaningful impact they're making within the community. He's all about keeping supporters in the loop with regular email updates, ensuring transparency and connection. And if you're ever around, feel free to drop by and enjoy a cup of coffee, as Guido happens to be the best barista at Krugerplein. Outside of his professional life, Guido has a pretty unique hobby—he specializes in repairing antique pocket watches. It's a craft that lets him connect with the beauty of timepieces from the past.

One quote that really speaks to Guido is from David Attenborough: "The future of life on Earth depends on our ability to take action. Many individuals are doing what they can, but real success can only come if there's a change in our societies, our economics, and in our politics." It's a reminder that we all need to do our part to make a better world.
