You are sponsoring one tree being planted at an Future Forest Company (FCC) reforestation site. At Brisbane Mains, your tree will be one of 293,000 being planted as part of a tree mix that includes 16 different tree species.
At The Future Forest Company we focus on delivering projects that transform degraded land through holistic land regeneration practices, including afforestation, wetland and peatland restoration, hedgerow planting and wildflowers. We combine this with the scaling of nascent carbon removal technologies, Enhanced Weathering and Biochar, which help to maximise the carbon sequestration potential of our land
Brisbane Mains is a stunning, 145 hectare coastal site situated 2km north of Largs, in North Ayrshire, Scotland, that includes a mixture of woodland, grassland and peatland habitats that are being actively restored by our teams. This includes the planting of 293,000 trees, with species including Downy Birch, Scots Pine, Douglas Fir, Juniper, Sycamore, Beech, Sessile Oak, Silver Birch, Wild Cherry, Rowan, Hazel, Hawthorn, Aspen, Goat Willow, Bay Willow, and Alder. Alongside other leading FFC sites, such as Glenaros on the Isle of Mull, our partners are helping drive the restoration of land through tree planting sponsorship, which goes towards covering our sapling, land preparation and planting costs.
Forests contain some of the richest concentrations of biodiversity on the planet. In the UK, our biodiversity is dying out. Almost half of birds, fungi and a quarter of the our mammals are at risk of extinction. If we look at wildlife, there is clear decline in both population numbers and their distribution across the UK.
At The Future Forest Company we are focused on replanting and restoring large swathes of degraded land in the UK, with the objective of supporting existing biodiversity and helping ecological growth and restoration. Tree planting is a key aspect to every site, and contributions enables us to plant the right mix of tree species that can play host to key species as the site matures. Beyond tree planting, we also focus on delivering the continued restoration of other key habitats, such as wetlands, peatland, wildflower meadows and hedgerows.
At The Future Forest Company, everything we do focuses on maximising the impact we can have on the environment. Ambition is key to all our projects, we want the world to see our woodland creation and land regeneration work from space. We're delighted to be working with Sumting to help connect our work with people who want to have a tangible impact on the environment around them.
